Here’s Why You Should Watch a Christian Movie Once A Week
In the frenzy of peppy chart busters and jaw-dropping backdrops, in the fantasy of ‘Infinity Stones,’somewhere down the line, our faiths seem to be flickering. While we are bogged down by the pace of our everyday rat-race that apparently leaves us enervated, and we are bedazzled by the glitters of the success-ladder, rekindling our faith in truth, unconditional love and compassion become the only way we stay grounded to our roots. Here’s a list of Christian movies watching which our hope and faith ought to be strengthened, preventing us from going astray in life. Grace Unplugged: This movie pivots about a father-daughter dynamic, wherein Christianity plays the driving force of…

War Flowers: A Tale of Sorrow and Hope The historical-drama film War Flowers deals with emotions from the perspective of a soldier’s wife and daughter. Set during the Civil War, Sarabeth and daughter Melody stayed at farmland. Sergeant John Ellis who owned this farmland joined the Confederate Army. The story began with a brief scene of a shooting. Melody appeared by the windowpane wishing for his father to come home soon. Every child whose father is a soldier can relate to Melody’s longingness for a father’s presence. There’s always that special bond between a father and daughter. It was her doll and bear that connects her with her father. It…

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? (1-28-19)
Happy (cold, cold, cold) Monday! It’s currently 17° with a wind chill of 8, and it’s only going to get worse over the next few days. However, I’m thankful that we’re not facing the extreme cold that my friends in Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan have coming their way. Can’t it be spring yet? It’s been f.o.r.e.v.e.r. since I last participated in It’s Monday!, and it’s time to get back on the old blogging horse. I actually didn’t read very much last week, as I pulled out my Fringe DVDs a couple weeks ago, and I’m completely hooked. However, the show is so much grosser than I remembered … I don’t recommend watching…

Crucible by James Rollins
I came upon Rollins’ novels by accident and I am glad I did. I find his novels to be a good combination of cutting edge scientific research and intense suspense. This novel fits that description well. The cutting edge science is artificial intelligence. The suspense is nearly continuous as the world as we know it might be destroyed.Another aspect of Rollins’ novels I like is that it includes Christian overtones. The AI being created is named Eve. There is the theme of a created being being introduced to evil and mortality. There are secret religious societies and priests battling each other. There is the concept of witches and those wrongly…

2019 ALA Youth Media Awards: the Redeemed Reader Team Reacts
This morning, the American Library Association (ALA) announced its Youth Media Awards. The ALA also welcomed awards announcements for titles awarded by the Asian/Pacific American Librarians Association and the Association of Jewish Libraries. It will include announcements from the American Indian Library Association on even years when those awards are traditionally awarded. The Redeemed Reader team all watched the awards announcements live this morning and had a hopping Slack channel chat going while we also frantically put books on hold at our respective libraries. We’re thrilled to report that all but one of our Newbery Buzz titles this year got some awards love, even though only one garnered Newbery attention.…

Abigail (2019) — Release Day
Abigail (2019) by Jess Heileman is a well-done debut. This book comes in eBook form, and is roughly a couple hundred pages in length. With a full-time job and a busy six-year old, this book took me two days to read. I received a copy of this novel in eBook form from the author via Kathy at Clean Wholesome Romance/ I Am a Reader. In no way has this influenced my opinion of the story. All opinions expressed in this review are my own. I give Abigail 4.5 STARS. This book is a Clean Historical Romance. About the Book For Abigail Blakeslee, becoming a debutante and entering Society is happening far too quickly. But now, foregoing…
