August Delivers some Can’t-Miss Albums!
There might be a little Dust on the Bible, but that’s only breathing new life into independent artists like Josiah Queen. Closing out August, Josiah Queen delivered one of the most anticipated releases of 2025 with his sophomore album, Mt. Zion. As an independent musician without a record deal, Queen stands as a testament to the new way of reaching audiences. With over 216 million global streams, his rise has been nothing short of remarkable.
This October, Queen will take his headlining release shows to the world-famous Ryman Auditorium and to the Yuengling Center (yes, a headlining arena show) in his hometown of Tampa.
Mt. Zion—featuring his beloved single “Dusty Bibles” and a powerhouse collaboration with Brandon Lake on “Can’t Steal My Joy”. Check it out today!
And while we’re at it, here are some other projects from August you don’t want to miss:
August has been a month overflowing with fresh songs of faith, anthems of hope, and albums that push Christian music forward while rooting it deep in the gospel. From chart-topping veterans like MercyMe and Lecrae, to rising voices like Josiah Queen and Jamie MacDonald, listeners have had plenty to add to their playlists.
Here’s a look at some of the standout releases this month:
Anne Wilson, God Story (EP)
Anne Wilson kicked off the month with her brand-new EP God Story, a four-song collection that includes the title track along with “Til the Road Runs Out,” “Devil Is Too,” and “Twenty-Three.” Building on the momentum of Rebel, Wilson continues blending country, worship, and pop in a way that’s uniquely her own.
Lecrae, Reconstruction
Lecrae dropped Reconstruction, his tenth studio album and one of his most ambitious projects yet. Featuring collaborations with Killer Mike, T.I., and Jon Bellion, the record showcases Lecrae’s commitment to faith, culture, and lyrical excellence.
Katy Nichole, Honest Conversations
Katy Nichole’s sophomore album Honest Conversations dropped mid-month, following her Platinum-certified debut. With raw, heartfelt lyrics and soaring vocals, the project is a candid exploration of faith, doubt, and God’s nearness.
Forrest Frank, “Lemonade” (with The Figs)
Forrest Frank opened the month with a major injury and used his down time to collaborate with some new friends via social media. The result is a sweet and soulful single. “Lemonade” features The Figs and finds Frank reflecting on resilience and gratitude in the middle of life’s challenges.
Lauren Daigle, “Let It Be a Hallelujah”
Lauren Daigle returned with her first new song in two years. Written almost a decade ago, “Let It Be a Hallelujah” has matured into a tender anthem of worship, reminding us that some songs only bloom when the timing is right.
Jamie MacDonald, “Left It in the River”
Jamie MacDonald followed her breakout success “Desperate” with a stirring new single, “Left It in the River.” With lyrics declaring freedom from guilt and shame, the song cements MacDonald’s place as one of the most exciting new voices in Christian music.
MercyMe, Wonder & Awe
The month’s first major album drop came from MercyMe. Wonder & Awe, the band’s twelfth studio project, brings sweeping worship choruses, poignant ballads, and a reminder that even after two decades, MercyMe still has plenty to say, and sing!
Blessing Offor, Real
On the same day, Blessing Offor released Real, his 16-track sophomore album. With his signature blend of soul, pop, and gospel, the project dives deep into themes of authenticity and grace. The release week also included a surprise celebration when Offor received his first Gold record for “Brighter Days.”
Jackie Hill Perry, Church Kidz (Double Single)
Poet and hip-hop artist Jackie Hill Perry returned with Church Kidz, a double single featuring “Shimmy” with Aha Gazelle and “Anti-Social” with Ahjah Walls. It’s a bold, creative statement from one of Christian hip-hop’s most unique voices.
Forrest Frank, “Selah”
Just one week after “Lemonade,” Forrest Frank delivered another reflective track, “Selah.” The song’s meditative tone provides a pause for worship and gratitude in the middle of his busy release schedule.
Phil Wickham, “So So Good (Live)”
Phil Wickham released a live version of his worship anthem “So So Good.” The track builds anticipation for his upcoming full-length Songs of the Saints, arriving in September.
Jeremy Camp, “Worthy Of It All / I Exalt Thee” (feat. Adrienne Camp)
Jeremy Camp teamed up with his wife Adrienne on a moving acoustic rendition of two worship classics. The heartfelt duet adds a beautiful layer of intimacy and authenticity.
CAIN, “Jesus Lifted Me” (feat. Brooke Ligertwood)
Sibling trio CAIN released one of the month’s most talked-about singles: “Jesus Lifted Me,” featuring worship leader Brooke Ligertwood. It’s a joyful, gospel-inspired anthem that blends CAIN’s pop sensibilities with Ligertwood’s powerful worship voice.
