Becoming My Truest Self
I adored our family of four. We had two happy, silly, lovable boys who were just beginning preschool and kindergarten. Steve and I were starting to feel like real adults, with jobs and kids and a house to take care of. Life was complicated, but beautiful. We each had our own personalities and quirks, which… The post Becoming My Truest Self appeared first on FaithGateway.

What If It’s True?
Years ago, I opened my Bible and began wrestling with this question: What if every single word of this story is absolutely true and I can trust it? What if Jesus really is who He says He is? What if the King of the universe is speaking directly to me through the words of His… The post What If It’s True? appeared first on FaithGateway.

Trusting God with the What Ifs
Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. Romans 8:33 Life is littered with what ifs. What if there’s not enough money? Or resources to go around? Or the economy doesn’t improve? What if the person we’ve trusted breaks her promise? Or doesn’t fulfill his commitment? Or drops the ball completely? What if our health begins to fail? Or our loved ones pass away? Or we find ourselves alone? Uncertainty surrounds us. The possibility of change can raise endless what if questions, causing us to worry. We all face legitimate challenges that need to be overcome and whenever we allow fear to…

1 JOHN: So We Can Know
First John contains a tiny verse that assures us of our salvation in Jesus Christ. Don’t miss it in 1 John 5:13: “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.” That settles is for all of us. The verse doesn’t say in order that we may “feel” or “think” or “hope;” it says clearly that we can know we have eternal life. What a great gift of God that He would want us to know, without a doubt, we will go to heaven when we die! We are His, and when we…

The Light Shines
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. — John 1:5 In 2005, my father, Dennis Rader, was arrested for murder. In the weeks that followed, I learned he was the BTK serial killer who terrorized my hometown of Wichita, Kansas, for three decades. As he confessed on national television… The post The Light Shines appeared first on FaithGateway.

Taste and See Week 2 — Delighting in the Sweetness of Fruitfulness
Then God said, ‘Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.’ And it was so. — Genesis 1:11 It is amazing how God uses every element of Scripture — even fruit — to reveal Himself to us. ~ Margaret… The post Taste and See Week 2 — Delighting in the Sweetness of Fruitfulness appeared first on FaithGateway.

Best Thing I Heard Today: January 26, 2019
I don’t usually put in much time in the office on a Saturday, but today as I am catching up on some work I opened Spotify’s Ultimate Christian Alternative list. About 9 or 10 songs in I heard the Zach Winters song “Ain’t No Grave” for the first time. I am definitely going to need to listen to more stuff from this guy. Today, “Ain’t No Grave” is the Best Thing I Heard Today. Check it out. —Ross Cluver/CCM Managing Editor

The “Secret” to Life
If there is a “secret” to life it’s this: following God is far more valuable than all the riches and comforts in the world. Whatever you are going through right now, if it’s humbling you, making you pray, bringing you to your knees, and making you feel like you cannot do this alone, maybe there… The post The “Secret” to Life appeared first on FaithGateway.

Rahab: Your Past Has Purpose
Rahab didn’t let her past control her future with God. We all have a past. And not just any past, a past that is presently living and active — shaping the way we think, believe, and act right this very moment. How we remember our life determines not only the way we relate to ourselves… The post Rahab: Your Past Has Purpose appeared first on FaithGateway.
