Samuel Day Welcomes 2026 with Hopeful New Pop Anthem
On New Year’s Day, Samuel Day is stepping into a new season with the release of his uplifting electronic pop single “Through the Night,” accompanied by an official music video. The release marks Day’s debut with NRT Music, as he is officially welcomed to the label’s growing roster of quality Christian artists. “Through the Night” is a danceable, infectious anthem about finding the right person when love once felt stacked against the odds. Refusing cynicism and choosing belief, the song captures the joy of finally making it through the night–even written while Day was single, leaning fully into hope. Chilled, vibey verses build into a bouncy, fireworks-level hook that bursts…

Johnny B: Worship, But Make it the 90s
During Dove Week, CCM’s Amanda and Logan Sekulow were introduced to Johnny B, who was a guest host on the Christian Music Guys Podcast. If you meet Johnny you’ll immediately clock, “Oh, this guy’s different!” Who else is making throwback worship music? His latest release is intentionally that way as the song in collaboration with Nineties Worship Night. “I Give You My Heart,” out now is a new take on the classic song by Darlene Zschech, featuring Crossroads Creative from Crossroads Church of Douglasville, Georgia. Within seconds of hitting play, you can hear the 90s. A few seconds in he lets out a full-on Backstreet Boys–level “yeaaahhh,” and somehow it…

New Years Eve on CBS is about to get “CeCe’d”!
At the Dove Awards earlier this year, Tauren Wells joked about songs and moments that have been “CeCe’d,” that rare transformation where something good becomes timeless once CeCe Winans touches it. Well Tauren, it might be time to update the definition. Because New Year’s Eve on CBS is about to get officially CeCe’d. On Wednesday, December 31, CeCe Winans will take the stage for CBS’ New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash, broadcasting live from Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park in Nashville, Tennessee. Hosted by country hitmaker HARDY and comedian Bert Kreischer, the national broadcast features an all-star lineup that reads like a modern country hall of fame, Keith Urban, Dierks…

Hey Millennials, Barlow Girl Is (Sort Of) Back
Hey Millennials. If your back is starting to hurt, you’re debating whether it’s worth staying up until midnight on New Year’s Eve, and you’ve already scoped out the couch as your final destination for the night, first of all, welcome. Second, don’t worry, you’re not alone. In fact, according to a familiar trio from your iPod, you’re NEVER ALONE. Because yes, it happened. Two thirds of BarlowGirl have quietly re-entered the chat. Alyssa and Lauren Barlow are officially back as simply Barlow. Not only that, but they’re also back with a record deal. In a statement shared by the duo, Alyssa and Lauren laid it out plainly, honestly, and without hype: “Getting…

Yes, A Pastor is Opening for LA Guns at the Whisky on NYE
Christian rock can sometimes feel like playing a game of Mad Libs… Switchfoot announces a tour alongside Lit and Fuel. Just a year ago it would’ve felt strange to hear Brandon Lake releases new single with Jelly Roll. However, faith-adjacent artists stepping onto stages that once felt off-limits is what makes our unique form of entertainment so special. If we are to be the light in the darkness, you have to take some big swings. And now, in a move that feels ripped straight out of a Hollywood screenplay, former Jewish street racer turned Christian pastor Aaron Schwartzbart is opening for L.A. Guns at the legendary Whisky-A-Go-Go on New Year’s…

BODIE LAUNCHES CHRISTIAN ALT-ROCK FESTIVAL… and we’re here for it!
Nearly a year ago, when we first took over CCM Magazine, I started talking out loud about the future of Christian music, the one I could see forming just over the horizon. I said it plainly. Mark my words. In a year, we’re going to be talking about guitar-driven rock bands again. A lot of people laughed. Some rolled their eyes when I suggested that the GMA should establish a rock commission. The response was simple. Show us the evidence. I’m looking at you, Justin Fratt… here it is. Not only is this a fresh-faced group of artists, it’s being ushered in by one of the most genre-bending, creative, and…

Brandon Heath Live: CCM Christmas Celebration
For Brandon Heath, Christmas doesn’t begin with a quiet moment. It begins with noise, movement, and music turned up loud enough to fill the house. “Our tradition is taking down all the, ornaments, decorations, box by box from our attic… and we just blare classic Christmas music like Bing Crosby, Burl Ives, that kind of jazz ensemble vibe.” That image of ladders, boxes, classic records echoing through the house, is the foundation of Long Expected, Heath’s new Christmas album, and the newly released title track of the same name, available now. From the very start, Heath wanted the album to feel like Christmas feels in real life. “So, for me, the beginning…

David: A Timely and Necessary Animated Epic
For years now, Angel Studios has been loudly building our anticipation. Teasing concept art here, a clip there, promises of a Pixar-level animated musical telling the story of one of Scripture’s most complex and beloved figures. This December, David finally arrives, and after watching it with my family, I can say this without hesitation: Angel Studios delivered a genuinely breathtaking look into the life of the Biblical hero. I had the opportunity to see David a few weeks ago, ahead of its nationwide theatrical release on December 19, and it’s been living in my head ever since. Featuring Christian music mainstay Phil Wickham as both the speaking and singing voice of adult King David,…

Jason Gray has announced on his social media that his son Jacob’s cancer has returned. Jacob was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in 2019 and had been in remission after receiving treatment. A recent biopsy of a tumor in his eye confirmed that the cancer had returned. With the cancer having progressed faster than expected, Jacob will undergo various treatments with the hope that one will slow the cancer so that he is eligible for a stem cell transplant. With Jacob being unable to work, Jason has set up a GoFundMe page to assist with monthly bills and medical expenses. Jason’s goal is to raise $22,000 to help cover…

Country Music Artists Asked About Prayer On The CMA Awards Red Carpet
The annual Country Music Association (CMA) Awards aired on ABC on November 19, 2025. The awards show recognizes the top songs, albums, and artists in the past year of Country music. In a snippet of the pre-show red carpet posted to social media by The Upload podcast host Brooke Taylor, you’ll see her ask Country music’s biggest artists “what they are praying for.” The question was well-received and met with both some poignant and some humorous answers. To mention a few Tierra Kennedy “peace.” Tyler Hubbard “direction and discernment.” Ashley Cooke “open the doors You want to open and close the doors You want to close.” Chase Matthew “that I…
