Squabbles, Spats, and Such: 8 Cues from the Life of Joseph
Just what can we learn from this tale of drama lifted right off the pages of the Old Testament? What cues can we take from Joseph about how we should — and should not — use our words when dealing with family, friends, and other necessary people in our lives? First… 1. Has Your Love Grown Cold?
One of my favorite coffee cups is the red cup. It has the word “love” on it, written in a heart. It also has a gold handle. Anyway, this morning, as I sat thinking and praying for the Breakthrough Retreat (details at at the bottom of the email), I noticed that this very-red cup now had a faint gold handle, where it once had been bright. Not only that, but my coffee inside of it had gone cold too. Has my heart felt more cold lately? Has my love been fading out? It is something worth considering… Jesus tells us that there will come a point that, “because of the…

2021: All Is Not Lost
I’m a self-professed choir nerd. Or I used to be. The melodies of a choral ensemble warming up before state competitions are the most memorable soundtracks of my high school years. Show choir, girls’ pop, quartet — you name the combination, I wanted to sing in it. Rarely a stand-alone soloist, I was at… The post 2021: All Is Not Lost appeared first on FaithGateway.

Shame — The Enemy’s First Weapon
Jesus tells the disciples to return to Galilee. So they do. Peter, Thomas, Nathaniel, James, and John, and two unnamed disciples. Unlike the rest, Peter has a problem. A self-inflicted wound. A telephone pole sticking out of his chest. And Jesus is about to expose and heal it. Peter, opening his big mouth once… The post Shame — The Enemy’s First Weapon appeared first on FaithGateway.

Jesus Is Not Done with You Yet
Where there’s hope, there’s life. It fills us with fresh courage and makes us strong again. ~ Anne Frank Wearing leather-looking pants to my husband’s head-pastor job interview ranks as one of my most embarrassing moments. Pleather on the front, business black on the back — goodness, it was cringeworthy. What possessed me to… The post Jesus Is Not Done with You Yet appeared first on FaithGateway.

God Has a New Name for You in the New Year
I’ve been a Christian a long time. I remember praying the sinners prayer many times in hopes that God would extend ongoing grace and forgiveness to me and accept me as His daughter. After some time, I learned I didn’t have to pray this prayer over and over again, and I discovered that God adopted… The post God Has a New Name for You in the New Year appeared first on FaithGateway.

How to Set Family Goals: Becoming a Family with Purpose
Have you set any family goals or resolutions for the new year? I like the word goals better than resolutions. New Year’s resolutions always seem doomed to fail, and if you don’t start on January 1 or fall off the bandwagon by January 3, you feel defeated. But goals? Goals can be set anytime, and… The post How to Set Family Goals: Becoming a Family with Purpose appeared first on FaithGateway.

Carrie recently released a Christmas album called My Gift featuring multiple Christian holiday classics, and she describes this upcoming gospel album as a companion to the new Christmas album. “When I was making this music, I felt like my soul was in such a great place, I wanted to keep making music like the music off of ‘My Gift,'” Carrie shared in a video on Instagram. “It’s just been such a blessing to make music like this,…
