Christian Music’s College Campus Takeover

There’s something happening on America’s college campuses. It may be College football season, but it’s not just tailgate parties. It’s a full-blown worship… dare I say… revival. Revival has somehow become a word we are not allowed to say, but it’s happening. It’s a new wave of Christian music that doesn’t look backward, but boldly steps into the future.

The Campus Nights tour is proof.

This isn’t a tour of 40 acts primarily focused on getting a few new young people, but mostly us 40+ year olds in the door. This is a generation of new artists taking the stage at major universities, many of them state schools, in a way we haven’t seen in decades.

Yes, the unashamed, unabashedly, shouting the name of Jesus type of Christian music is officially cool again.

Leg #1 wrapped up this week after a kickoff October 15 at Lee University, Jervis Campbell, Gable Price, and Strings & Heart brought raw, spiritual energy to campuses across the Midwest and South. Round #2 though is coming in strong.

We’ve got Josiah “Dusty Bible” Queen & Hulvey with special guest Claire Leslie!

This all-star crew is teaming up for a southern sweep that hits so many major college towns:

Tour Dates:

  • Nov 6 – UT Arlington
  • Nov 7 – University of Texas
  • Nov 9 – Texas A&M University
  • Nov 10 – Texas Tech University
  • Nov 12 – Samford University
  • Nov 14 – University of Tennessee
  • Nov 15 – Auburn University
  • Nov 16 – University of Georgia
  • Nov 18 – Furman University
  • Nov 19 – Florida State University
  • Nov 20 – University of South Carolina
  • Nov 22 – Old Dominion University

These are massive, mainstream campuses—where the next generation of artists, engineers, and believers are shaping culture. Hulvey’s hip-hop and Josiah Queen’s worship-folk blend are tailor-made for this moment: honest, passionate, and rooted in Scripture, but not afraid of rhythm, groove, and fresh sound.

For too long, there’s been this myth floating around Christian music that the “glory days” are behind us. That the big moments already happened and it was time to pack it all in.

But walk onto one of these campuses this fall, and you’ll realize how wrong that is.

There’s an organic and youthful energy in this revival. A faith that’s finding its way into dorm rooms, student unions, and football stadiums. These kids don’t remember the old songs because they weren’t alive when they came out. And that’s okay. Our job now is to teach them about CCM’s rich legacy, while also giving them space to build their own.

The sound of modern Christian music is echoing louder than ever and it’s being led by artists who weren’t afraid to say yes. Because somewhere around the quad it is all catching fire again.

And if you’re not paying attention, that’s your loss because the next great awakening is happening in the student section.
