Beloved songwriter Sara Groves just released a lovely new single, “Jesus, See the Traveler.” Inspired by recent travels overseas and the stories of refugees she met there, Groves has written a beautiful prayer of remembrance for the displaced and wandering, and the addition of harmonies from her daughter Ruby makes it that much sweeter. “Jesus, See the Traveler” is the Best Thing I Heard Today! The newest EP from Jason Barrows is out and it’s loaded with great straightforward melodies, especially the opening track “Edge of My Heart.” Jason, who is the guitarist for Josh Garrels, has been making beautiful solo music for a while, largely in the vein of The War on Drugs, and this takes those hazy rock and roll sentiments and adds some Ryan Adams to the mix. “I don’t wanna live on the edge of my heart like God is a stranger,” he sings atop a killer mid-tempo groove perfect for the upcoming spring season. I’ve been trying to make a habit of checking out the Spotify Christian new releases every friday. Today I’m glad I did. Where have I been that I haven’t heard of Redimi2? This Dominican Christian rapper is legit. Sadly, my 4 years of public high school Spanish mean I only catch about 1 out of every 10 words, but it doesn’t matter that I don’t know what he is saying…he’s that good!
