How to Pray for Friends and Family in the New Year

January 1, 2021 / Comments Off on How to Pray for Friends and Family in the New Year

A major motion picture about prayer. Your sister starring in that movie. Neither of these things is what I would call normal. Seeing my sister, Priscilla, in War Room left me speechless, and you better believe I was praying for her and for the people watching her. But this got me thinking. Do I pray… The post How to Pray for Friends and Family in the New Year appeared first on FaithGateway.

A Year of Everyday Wonders paces a traditional family through small milestones and seasonal turnings. A Year of Everyday Wonders by Cheryl B. Klein, illustrated by Qin Leng. Abrams, 2020, 40 pages. Reading Level: Picture book, ages 4-8 Recommended for: ages 3-8 How does a new year begin? With an ordinary day, or a day that seems ordinary, except that it’s the first. Shortly after, the first waffles of the new year, the first fight with your brother (many more to come), first snowfall, first cup of hot chocolate to end the day. But that’s not all. As we go through the year we experience more “firsts”: Valentines, green grass…

Lauren Daigle Removed From Rockin’ New Years Eve Lineup

December 31, 2020 / Comments Off on Lauren Daigle Removed From Rockin’ New Years Eve Lineup

Two weeks ago, we shared a developing story regarding New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrel calling for Lauren Daigle’s removal from Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Years’ Eve Celebration. After Lauren was involved in a ‘Let Us Worship’ event with artist Sean Feucht, Mayor Cantrel claimed that Lauren “harmed our people,” and “cannot be allowed to represent New Orleans.” Now, it has been officially announced that Lauren has been removed from the Rockin’ New Years’ Eve lineup. Not much other information is known at the moment, and Lauren has not yet spoken out about the situation. Stay tuned to NRT for details as this story unfolds![…]

Begin Again: Settle Down Deep in His Love

December 31, 2020 / Comments Off on Begin Again: Settle Down Deep in His Love

May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. — Ephesians 3:19 NLT Pipín Ferreras wants to go deep, deeper than any person has ever gone. You and I are content with 10 or 20 feet of water. Certain risktakers descend 40, maybe 50. Not Pipín. This legendary… The post Begin Again: Settle Down Deep in His Love appeared first on FaithGateway.

Living on the Edge of Yikes

December 31, 2020 / Comments Off on Living on the Edge of Yikes

,   Comfortable people don’t need Jesus, desperate people do. When I turned sixty years old, I had three ambitions. I wanted to learn how to jump a dirt bike, hot-wire a car, and figure out how to pick a lock. I’ve made a little progress on each of these. I bought a KTM 500… The post Living on the Edge of Yikes appeared first on FaithGateway.

I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. — Romans 8:38-39 READING PLAN 5… The post Journal Through the Bible: Romans appeared first on FaithGateway.

Should You Give Up on Goal-Setting?

December 30, 2020 / Comments Off on Should You Give Up on Goal-Setting?

The term goals was virtually nonexistent before 1920. On a graph, looking at any mention of the word in all of literature across the board, it’s pretty much a flat line — until 1920, when it started to uptick and has continued to shoot up and to the right for the past ninety to one… The post Should You Give Up on Goal-Setting? appeared first on FaithGateway.

    When Crisis Comes Knocking

December 29, 2020 / Comments Off on When Crisis Comes Knocking

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. — Psalm 34:19 The sun peered between the trees and slowly emerged from behind the mountains. It was a cool, silent morning, and I was alone. The mist, suspended over the open valley below, was a nagging reminder… The post When Crisis Comes Knocking appeared first on FaithGateway.
