A Cleft in a Rock
A God Who Is With You When You Reach the End of Yourself Mental pain is less dramatic than physical pain, but it is more common and also more hard to bear. The frequent attempt to conceal mental pain increases the burden: it is easier to say “My tooth is aching” than to say “My… The post A Cleft in a Rock appeared first on FaithGateway.

Loving Others at Their Worst
When Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson crudely mocked Congressman-elect Dan Crenshaw because of his eye patch and flippantly remarked, “I know he lost his eye in the war or whatever,” no one expected the former Navy SEAL and decorated war hero to respond to the insults in the way that he did. The mockery… The post Loving Others at Their Worst appeared first on FaithGateway.

Why Such Lack and Evil?
Why Such Lack and Evil? The fact that “devils” are predominantly comic figures in the modern imagination will help you. Staying Strong Like Jesus
My young daughter looks at me and cries, “Mommy, I’m falling!” I know it’s a test. In actuality, her falling-off-the-couch body is just half a foot away from the ground. It doesn’t matter. The learning is founded on these 2 concepts: One: Jesus is the Prince of Peace (Is. 9:6) Two: I follow Jesus. “Then Jesus told his disciples, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.’” (My.16:24 ESV) Note here: Jesus is not the Prince of Conflict. Nor the Prince of Double-Mindedness. Nor Prince of fear. Here, in the busyness of my day — I can ask myself: Am I following and pursuing peace, or lesser things? Doing this makes me a wiser decision-maker. For instance, this helps me to:…

The Giving Keys: Hope, Love, Dream, Fight, Believe
My whole life, I’ve prayed, God, I want to feel what You feel for people. Break my heart so I feel for people exactly what You feel for them. Little did I know where that would lead me. Fighting the Enemy Through Prayer
Fighting the Enemy Through Prayer Jesus’ reminder to pray regularly against temptation reminds us just how prevalent and dangerous the appeal of sin can be in the Christian life. Once again the issue of kingdom and kingship is front and center. Sin and temptation are harsh masters. As the story of Cain reminds us, sin… The post Fighting the Enemy Through Prayer appeared first on FaithGateway.
