Collington Drops New Track ‘Mountain’

For Collington’s release In Between, the singer-songwriter hand-selected 5 songs from over 100 demos to make the EP. Enlisting music guru Eric Owyoung (Hillsong United, Jon Foreman) Collington and Owyoung began working on the handful of hauntingly and spacious indie rock songs.

Collington has now released another song from the initial demos contending for the EP. On the first day of spring, the artist released the track “Mountain.” The new song is an acoustic-guitar driving piece that shows a different side of the artist while maintaining atmospheric elements crucial to the sound of the prior EP. Working with producer Dan Knittel and the band’s drummer Nate DeLeon, the three crafted the song at Knittel’s Anthemic Studios. From start to finish, “Mountain” lyrically and musically paints a picture of a journey through a desert landscape. The song touches on themes of hope and not being self-made.

“‘Mountain’ was a song that I wrote when compiling songs for In Between,” Collington says. “I liked the song so much that I almost changed the direction of the record to include the track. The last EP did really well for us as an indie band. It doesn’t make sense to release new music 8 months after an EP, but I wanted to do put it out as a thank you for the response to In Between. I wrote these songs when I was really struggling to process changes in my life. ‘Mountain’ adds some closure that I found in that season.”
