As the nation recognizes Black Music Month, an annual celebration of Black Music and its creators, celebrated in June, there is one song that embodies the culture and heritage of African-American struggle and hope in America. That song, “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” more commonly known as The Black National Anthem, is a mainstay during Black History Month and rallies and protests calling for an end to racial injustice. HolyName Signs to Facedown Records
The new heavy worship band (or as they term themselves, Holy Drone Violent Worship), HolyName, has signed to Facedown Records. They have already released two singles, “Meet Me Somewhere Quiet” and “Fall On Your Knees.” Their third single, “Perpetua” was released in conjunction with the announcement of signing to the label. “We are excited to announce that we have joined the Facedown Records family. Earth Groans Announces Fall Tour
Solid State Records’ hardcore band, Earth Groans, is going on tour this September. They are touring with the metalcore band In Search Of Solace, signed to Sharptone Records. The tour is called The Back Again Tour and is hitting the midwest and eastern U.S. primarily. The tour will take place during September with 15 nights booked, including some festivals. Earth Groans has been with Solid State Records for a long time now and they have quickly become a fan favorite. Laura Hackett Park Releases Short Film
Worship leader and recording artist, Laura Hackett Park, has released a unique video project called The Secret Place. Filmed at the International House of Prayer’s Global Prayer Room, where Laura has served as a worship leader for several years, the 20-minute short film is a live devotional video featuring five of Laura’s original worship songs. Before each performance, Laura gives background commentary to contextualize how the song was written and it’s meaning. She sits down at a keyboard to play and sing to God in an empty room, creating the atmosphere of a “secret place,” personal conversation with God, with both her lyrics and the visuals from this project.
