Work – Life Balance
It was one of those mornings, I just didn’t want to wake up to work. It was alright though, as I was going to work from home. I lazyly woke up, brushed my teeth, and got ready for my 8 AM call, which was my first meeting for the day. My mom comments as I cozy up in my plush throw to take my call, “You should work hard for your pay you know.” In agreement, I respond, “Yes, but study shows it is good to have a lazy day once in a while, makes you more productive on other days.” I feel lucky to have a full-time job…

Feb. 26 – My Airplane Playlist!
Hey CCM peeps. I miss you all! We normally have a show on Tuesdays, but I’m traveling across the country after celebrating my daughter’s 10th birthday in New York City! It’s been great! So as I’m flying, I thought I’d share five of my favorite songs to listen to during takeoffs: 1. “High Above” by Bryan & Katie Torwalt Literally works because when you’re in a plane, you’re “high above.” 2. “Never See the End” by Amanda Cook Such a great reminder of God’s love. 3. “Relentless (Acoustic)” by Hillsong UNITED It’s great for turbulence. 4. “Nothing Can Separate” by David Baloche This is a soothing,…

On-the-Go Family? You Can Still Develop Meaningful Devotion Time
I didn’t realize life would get this busy so quickly. The move up to seventh grade for our oldest son filled our calendar full of new activities and opportunities, from jazz band and show choir to cross country and research projects. These are all wonderful things and we love seeing his God-given talents shine,… The post On-the-Go Family? You Can Still Develop Meaningful Devotion Time appeared first on FaithGateway.

Lent: Uncluttering of the Soul
The sabbatical started more suddenly and violently than anticipated. A high fever, a few scans, multiple masses, possibly a lethal abscess… the specialists convened, conferred, counseled me to cancel all engagements, and began cutting. The reduction had begun. Though the masses, thankfully, were all benign, my body did not respond well to the invasion. The… The post Lent: Uncluttering of the Soul appeared first on FaithGateway.

3 Ways to Speak Life Into Others
“What’s wrong with you?”“Why can’t you be better?”“Why do you always?” If you are a mom or dad, you’ve probably spoken a statement you’ve regretted. We’ve all been there. I’m not one to critique; I’ve said some pretty horrible things to my husband, like: “You always. . . ” “Why don’t you ever. . . ” Plus, some unmentionable statements spoken under my breath (which I won’t get into). I’m not proud of this. Why? Because words reflect one’s heart. “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.” (Mt. 15:18) My words don’t only damage others, they damage me. Untimed and uncontrolled words…
