North Carolina Duo kindred. Releases New Single/Video ‘Still’

The talented uncle-niece, North Carolina-based duo kindred. is making waves once again with the release of their latest song, “Still.” This emotional ballad is the result of a two-year-long journey filled with personal challenges and unwavering faith.

Dustin Chapman, one half of kindred. opened up about the song’s creation. He revealed that the song’s inspiration began in 2021 when he and his niece (and other half of the group) Ryleigh Madison were diagnosed with COVID-19. The experience left Dustin, who suffers from an extremely rare disease, uncertain about his body’s response to the virus. During his recovery, the words “be still” resonated with him, planting the seed for what would become “Still.” However, Dustin couldn’t complete the song, believing that its conclusion would reveal itself when the time was right.

A year later, the duo faced another major obstacle when they were involved in a horrific four-vehicle car accident. Thankfully, they both emerged with concussions and bruises, but their overall health was intact. It was during this trying time that Dustin found the inspiration to finish “Still,” adding the poignant second verse and bridge.

The song’s lyrics, “You are worthy on my worst of days and greater than my earthly pain,” emanated from a place of deep gratitude. Despite experiencing two periods of physical and emotional turmoil, Dustin and Ryleigh found solace in the belief that God’s grace had allowed them to heal and be safe from long-lasting pain. “Still” conveys a powerful message about the importance of patience and faith in times of adversity, emphasizing the idea that sometimes all we can do is “be still” and wait for God’s plan to unfold.

“Still” is a heartfelt and soul-stirring song that showcases Kindred’s exceptional talent and deep emotional connection. The song is now available on all major streaming platforms, and its message of hope and resilience is bound to resonate with listeners around the world.

Lyrics:

Surpass my understanding, take the weight of the self-made hate
Anxiety and apprehensions, words of doubt I can’t get around
Just center my attention in Your word and let me see
That there’s goodness in store, though it’s beyond my current reach

Let the pride in my heart slip away
Close the doors and make me wait

And I will sit still, and bask in Your glory
Wait for Your will to become my story
‘Cause I know You promise to strengthen
When we’re weak and all but breaking down
In the silence is where I’ll learn how to feel
So when Your voice says go, I’ll know it’s real
So I will sit still (I’ll sit still)
I will sit still (I’ll sit still)

So send the rain oh God, I know it’ll make me grow
Closer to the one who’s brought me through before
The one who’s worthy on my worst of days
And greater than my earthy pain
As all of heaven sings Your praise
I’ll gladly do the same

And sit still, and bask in Your glory
Wait for Your will to become my story
‘Cause I know You promise to strengthen
When we’re weak and all but breaking down
In the silence is where I’ll learn how to feel
So when Your voice says go, I’ll know it’s real

So I will sit still (I’ll sit still)
I will sit still (I’ll sit still)

Said You are worthy on my worst of days
And greater than my earthly pain
As all of heaven sings Your praise
I’ll gladly do the same

And sit still, and bask in Your glory
Wait for Your will to become my story
‘Cause I know You promise to strengthen
When we’re weak and all but breaking down
In the silence is where I’ll learn how to feel
So when Your voice says go, I’ll know it’s real
So I will sit still (I’ll sit still)
I will sit still (I’ll sit still)

I’ll sit still
I’ll sit still
