What Is Holding You Back?
I have a confession to make…I envy marathon runners! How do they have the stamina and the willpower to keep running for 26 long, grueling miles? What keeps them going when they are ready to give up? What do they think about over the course of those long miles? How do they have the gumption to sign up for another marathon when they are still recovering from sore muscles and blisters from the last marathon? As I have attended marathons (as a spectator of course!) and talked to marathon runners, I have gleaned some valuable insights from running that can be applied to this life that God has given us. …

Criticism…Ouch it Hurts!
How do you deal with a critical remark or comment? Do you walk away and forget about it or do you mull it over in your mind causing sleepless nights and a roller coaster of emotions? I have to admit that in the past I was a “muller”. I used to let criticism take charge of my thoughts for days, but I am learning in this area. Of course, when God wants to teach me a life lesson, He often gives me the opportunity to learn over and over until I get it. You guessed it…I have had plenty of negative comments thrown my way, but I am pleased to…

The Fall – A Perspective
I open my eyes and I see that I am in mid air, falling. I feel the air brushing past me and there is no ground beneath me. The gravity is powerful and I am falling at a great speed. Anxious, my arms are spread out reaching out for something, but all I feel is the air passing through my fingers. I know not where I am, how I got here, nor do I know when I will hit the ground. Minutes, hours and days pass, I am experiencing a perpetual fall. I feel the constant brushing of the air on my body. I am fully conscious, and I try…

Follow Jesus and not Christians
I’ve noticed that in the Christian community we always want to strive to be like others, we’ll notice other people doing something and want to do it just like them. Or on the flip side sometimes there might be a lack of something.. let’s say a lack of kindness and instead of doing it differently well just follow the way that everyone is in the church instead of actually doing what Jesus would do. This is an issue because we aren’t called to be like every other christian we see but we care called to be like Jesus Christ. Granted, we can never reach perfection but we must strive everyday…

Woman of God, you are worth it!
Being a woman of God is such a blessing! The amount of power that we hold as woman is incredible, though I must say I didn’t always think like this. When I first gave my life to Christ or even just growing up I didn’t quite understand the role of the woman and therefor I was mislead and have a lot of false assumptions which led me to believe and feel like I was less than and not as worthy as the males. Some of you might still feel this way and may not fully understand some things I’d first like to reassure you and let you know that this…

Senior Makes Friend’s Dream Come True
Senior Brandon Qualls of Caddo Hills High School in Arkansas can now go to school with much more ease than before thanks to a significant gesture and act of friendship by his classmate Tanner Wilson. It was Tanner’s wish to make things easier for his good friend Brandon, who would often tire maneuvering his manual wheelchair. So Wilson started saving to be able to give his best friend the surprise of his life: an electric wheelchair. Tanner saved up from his job at a local mechanic shop for over two years in order to give such a generous and selfless gift. “They came in, and my face just blew up,” Brandon…

He Made $35,000 in Four Days, Donates $7K
Watch the latest video at foxnews.com David Holston is an 18-year-old entrepreneur from Idaho who started a landscaping business in Coeur d’Alene last spring. He recently made a good amount of money in 4 days, more in than many make in a year, from plowing snow. The proactive teen decided to travel to Seattle with his truck and a plow right after the city got hit with historic levels of snow – up to 10 inches in some parts. Holston made a total of $35,000 in four days work and said he plans to give $7,000 of that “to God” through his local church and other Christian organizations. “I plan…

Run!
26.2…I couldn’t get the marathon runner’s emblem out of my head. Even though I tried to dismiss the image, it wouldn’t go away. No, at this point in my life I was NOT going to take up running as my new form of exercise, but I felt that God had some lessons that He was trying to teach me. Because my son and daughter-in-law are half-marathon runners, I have an elementary knowledge of the running world. My husband and I have often cheered them on at races, however, I realized that I could learn so much more. I began asking them questions like “How do you train, what do…

White As Snow
As a Central Louisiana and former East Texas resident, I don’t have many opportunities to see snow, unless I’m traveling further north. What really strikes me as I sit at home today on a rare snow day, especially on a day when the sun hasn’t stolen the white crystals away yet, is the brightness I see when I look outside. It may not be apparent in the picture I posted, but the dreariness of the sky does not affect the piercing glow of the snow-covered immaculate landscape. Time off from school. Time to think and pray and ponder. Catching up on emails, reading blogs, looking at pictures of other snowy yards, watching video…

Work – Life Balance
It was one of those mornings, I just didn’t want to wake up to work. It was alright though, as I was going to work from home. I lazyly woke up, brushed my teeth, and got ready for my 8 AM call, which was my first meeting for the day. My mom comments as I cozy up in my plush throw to take my call, “You should work hard for your pay you know.” In agreement, I respond, “Yes, but study shows it is good to have a lazy day once in a while, makes you more productive on other days.” I feel lucky to have a full-time job…
