    Memorable Monday #25

January 28, 2019 / Comments Off on Memorable Monday #25

Welcome to Memorable Monday! The purpose of Memorable Monday is to showcase an influential book read in the past that still sticks with you today. This fun Monday morning post is hosted by the lovely Becca at The Becca Files. This week, I am featuring: The Mark of the King by: Jocelyn Green Amazon The Mark of the King was the first book I read written by Jocelyn Green. I LOVED this book and knew immediately that I had found a new Christian Historical author to follow. As with all her books — I’ve since read several more — the research in The Mark of the King is stunning, and the way she creates…

    His Encouragement #64

January 28, 2019 / Comments Off on His Encouragement #64

Good morning, and welcome to His Encouragement Thursday! I don’t know about you, but Thursdays are my struggle day of the week. By Thursday, I have already been working hard at school and at home, and I just wish it would hurry up and be Friday already. LOL! I definitely need a little extra Jesus time on Thursdays. Trisha, my blogger friend at Joy of Reading, and I decided on calling this post “His Encouragement” because our real source of peace, strength, and security can only come from Jesus Christ. He, and He alone, is our constant! We pray and hope that these Thursday posts become a real encouragement to you and…

First Line Fridays: “How the Light Gets In”

January 28, 2019 / Comments Off on First Line Fridays: “How the Light Gets In”

Happy Friday! It’s bitterly cold here—January is definitely acting like January—and I can’t wait to spend tomorrow curled up with a blanket and a good book! The book I’m currently reading, which I’m spotlighting today, definitely qualifies as a good book. Jolina Petersheim’s How the Light Gets In is the story of a young widow who goes to stay with her deceased husband’s Old Order Mennonite cousin, and it’s completely fascinating so far.The caskets were closed, of course. How’s that for a first line? I’ve loved what I’ve read of this novel, and I can’t wait for some time to really dive into it! My review will go up on Monday, so be…

    The Light Shines

January 28, 2019 / Comments Off on The Light Shines

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. — John 1:5 In 2005, my father, Dennis Rader, was arrested for murder. In the weeks that followed, I learned he was the BTK serial killer who terrorized my hometown of Wichita, Kansas, for three decades. As he confessed on national television… The post The Light Shines appeared first on FaithGateway.

Taste and See Week 2 — Delighting in the Sweetness of Fruitfulness

January 28, 2019 / Comments Off on Taste and See Week 2 — Delighting in the Sweetness of Fruitfulness

Then God said, ‘Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.’ And it was so. — Genesis 1:11 It is amazing how God uses every element of Scripture — even fruit — to reveal Himself to us. ~ Margaret… The post Taste and See Week 2 — Delighting in the Sweetness of Fruitfulness appeared first on FaithGateway.

    Outrunning A Boomerang

    January 28, 2019 / 0 Comments

I am so easily entertained. The Boomerang app is a great example of this. The idea was a very clever one. There’s just something about a moving image unexpectedly going in reverse that is so fun! My mind wanders, and I can’t help but feel like we all experience boomerang-like behavior in life. We give the illusion of movement, but in reality we are just reliving the same motions over and over. We sometimes call this behavior a “habit”. Not all habits are negative, of course. In fact, I’m currently in the process of forming some positive habits myself. Daily meditation, consistent cardio, eating clean food…these are all positive changes!…

Review: “Beauty and the Baron” by Joanna Barker

January 27, 2019 / Comments Off on Review: “Beauty and the Baron” by Joanna Barker

It’s no secret that I’m a sucker for fairy tale retellings! I’ve read many retellings of Beauty and the Beast, and even though some have been horrifically terrible, I just can’t seem to resist picking up another. So when one of the bookstagrammers I follow posted about Beauty and the Baron, I snapped it up on Kindle Unlimited!A penniless maid determined to save her father, a broken baron bent on isolation, and the undeniable draw between them that will lead to happiness—or disaster. Rose Sinclair has run out of options. With her father in prison and their bookshop sold to pay his debts, she has no choice but to turn to…

Review: “Who I Am With You” by Robin Lee Hatcher

January 27, 2019 / Comments Off on Review: “Who I Am With You” by Robin Lee Hatcher

Robin Lee Hatcher has become one of my go-to romance writers. The lowest star rating I’ve ever given any of her books is 3-1/2, and I’ve rated most of her books 4-1/2 or 5 stars. They’re always excellent! Who I Am with You is different from the other Hatcher books I’ve read in that it’s a split time (dual timeline) novel; those are often hit or miss for me, so of course I was hopeful that this one would be a hit!For these two broken hearts, the first step toward love will be a huge leap of faith.Jessica Mason isn’t looking for love when she meets Ridley Chesterfield. Instead she…
